Brink Wins PokerStars Sunday Million on 8.3.08

Serena DaSilva - 5 Aug 2008

Poker Stars celebrated the new (and improved) $1.5 Sunday Million with 8,431 entrants. This drove up the prize pool to a tasty $1,686,200, leaving first place with more than $200k if no deal was struck. The final nine featured a few well-known rounders, most notably Zach “nofinclue11” Clark, aka CrazyZachary. One of the world’s top online players, Clark has amassed more than $800,000 in internet tournament earnings to date. He hit the rails in this event in fifth place, adding nearly $60,000 to his bankroll.

Andy McLEOD, a frequent PokerStars player, who has accomplished the near-impossible, keeping his real identity secret to the world, came in one above Clark. McLeod captured the fourth slot and put himself over the $600,000 mark in lifetime tournament earnings.

The final two players in the event were betofetus and Fred_Brink. Neither player agreed on a deal so they played it out for the whole top prize. In the end, Brink, who had done rather well in the Nightly Grand Tourneys at PokerStars, took down the top spot, the title and the $200,000 plus. This was his biggest payday by far.

Here are the final results:

1) Fred_Brink - $204,199
2) betofetus - $137,425
3) RProps - $93,584
4) Andy McLEOD - $75,789
5) nofingclue11 - $59,017
6) Godfatti - $42,155
7) HappyOldMonk - $29,509
8) djmib2 - $19,391
9) tpooch - $11,803
