Full Tilt held its Million Dollar Guarantee on Sunday July 20, 2008. 2,396 rounders turned out for the online tournament, driving up the prize pool to an impressive $1,198,000. Although the total prize pool was less than the Poker Stars Sunday Million, the first prize allotted to the winner of this event was more.
As you can well imagine, the final table was stacked with some well-known internet players including Kevin “A__theKevlar__2” Schulz. The frequent top 20 finisher in events such as these, took fourth place in this event and added more than $70,000 to his lifetime tournament earnings.
However, the final two remaining players were perhaps the biggest names at the final table. Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis, fresh of his summer stint at the WSOP (he came in 34th in Event #21 on June 11, 2008), made it all the way to heads-up play against GulahPapyrus. Gulah is a former FTP $750k Main Event champion, having taken the top spot in this event on January 20, 2008.
Despite Kamberis’ more than $700,000 in online earnings and live action success, he was unable to defeat Papyrus in his own dojo. GulahPapyrus owned this event again.
These are the final standings:
1) GulahPapyrus - $219,773
2) AJKHoosier1 - $134,895
3) hurikane3 - $88,293
4) A__theKevlar__2 - $70,442
5) SitAndStack - $53,311
6) Chipleader56 - $38,336
7) Nom Sayin - $28,153
8) acatlover - $22,043
9) ILIKEPONIES - $16,772
Full Tilt holds a $1,000,000 version of its $750k Guarantee each and every month. Find out how you can be a part of this special event HERE!
