On Friday September 12, 2008, a $320 buy-in NLHE heads-up match was held at Poker Stars as part of the 2008 World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP). A maximum of 2,048 entrants signed on to play in the event, creating a prize pool of $614,400. The event’s champion would need to survive eleven straight matches in order to claim the ultimate victory and earn a six-figure payday.
After ten heads up matches, the final two players took to the felt. They were Huxfluxen and pandaCHAN12. As the duo began to play, they decided to chop the remaining money. They agreed to $70k for each with $19,744 left for the winner, along with the bracelet. More than half an hour later, Huxfluxen raked in the final pot, defeating pandaCHAN12 and the additional spoils.
