Last Sunday (November 16, 2008) the Full Tilt Online Poker Series X finished off with a big bang. Canadian poker player and WSOP Main Event final tablist Scott Montgomery – he took fifth place at the 2008 World Series – presided over the $2.5 million guaranteed $500 + 35 NLHE competition. 5,225 players entered the tournament, which drove up the prize pool to $2,612,500.
A total of 738 players made bank in the tournament including Full Tilt Pros Josh Arieh, Eddy Scharf, Jon “PearlJammed” Turner, Dag “dmmikkel” Mikkelsen, Sandra Naujoks, Steve Zolotow, Huck Seed and lawyer turned author/blogger Michael Craig. Topping them all was Peter “Nordberg” Feldman. He finished in seventeenth place, earning $12,801. 25.
Several other well-known pros also made money in the event including Adam “Roothlus” Levy (667th place - $679.25), Fabrice Soulier (659th place - $679.25), Eric “Rizen” Lynch (557th place - $757.62), Leandro Brasa (488th place - $809.87), Zachary “CrazyZachary” Clark (349th place - $1.071.13), Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson (253rd place - $1,358.50), Nenad “serb2127” Medic (89th – $2,783.25) and James “Mig_com” Mackey (52nd - $4,571.88).
About 11 hours into the match, the final table was ready to be played sckilla had the chip lead with 11,356,134 of the big ones with Julian Verse more than four million behind in second place. As heads-up play began, these two players were the only ones to remain. sckilla still had the lead. However, Verse made a flush on a key hand and took over the lead, never looking back.
