Ladbrokes Poker Celebrates Danish Poker with LEOCOP and WSOP Main Events

Serena DaSilva - 10 Nov 2008

The Ladbrokes Poker festival LEOCOP IV, with $500,000 money added festival, has been played by some 4,370 players who share in a total prize pool of over $2m.  The Ladbrokes Poker festival culminated in the $1000 + $100 Main event with $250,000 added drawing comparisons with the WSOP final table that also kicked off on Sunday evening by Edward Ihre MD of Ladbrokes Poker.

He said:  "We, attracted a good field and the money added generated a record breaking prize pool of gigantic proportions for the 600+ runners, $918,000, which easily made it the best value online tournament for an age."

Poker pros who are experts in spotting the best value tournaments, online made sure they took their seats in the last night of the LEOCOP festival.  Former WSOP Bracelet winners, WSOP final tablists and a final tablist in a WSOPE were just some of the few  familiar poker circuit names that made an appearance as they tried to secure their slice of the LEOCOP IV Main Event massive online prizepool."

Ed Ihre continued: "Ladbrokes Poker is really proving to be a lucky talisman for the Danes.  At the same time 'hahila' was dominating the final table eventually winning $230,000 after over 14 hours of play .  Peter Eastgate, who flew out to Las Vegas as part of Team Ladbrokes in July of this year was bossing the WSOP final table.  Both events have been great for Ladbrokes Poker this year."

As predicted, the LEOCOP Leaderboard was dominated by those that had played and cashed in a number of the festival events, in fact the table showed that the top 23 on the Leaderboard played in at least three of the 16 events.

Along with the winners of each festival event The top 80 will now be invited to play in the Masters Event on the 22nd for the last remaining seat in the semi-final of Poker Million, which guarantees a minimum $20,000 payout and a once in a lifetime opportunity to play on TV for a million dollar first prize.

'hahila's' win takes him to the no 2 spot on the LEOCOP Leaderboard and an extra $3000  and James666 a former festival event winner who clinched pole position by playing and cashing in seven events an additional $4,000 taking his total festival  winnings $44,682.

'hahila' performed brilliantly throughout a tournament which lasted over 14 hours, maintaining his chip lead for most of the final table.  A regular player at Ladbrokes he never risked his tournament life without a huge advantage.  His Heads-Up play from the night before where he secured 5th place was great preparation for the final table as 'Benno26' gave him a run for his money at one point taking the chip lead in an exciting pot, leading out on the K-4 -2 flop which presented him with two pair, leading out on each street he was flat called by 'hahila' all the way to the river, who was on a hiding to nothing with K -J.

It was pocket Qs a few hands later that proved 'hahila's' saviour as 'Benno26' with Ac - 8c pushed with the nut flush draw that never materialised - again losing chip lead to 'hahila'.  The final hand of the morning (9.38am) Kh - Qd was enough to seal the deal for 'hahila' who raised on the button and was called by 'Benno 26'. The flop was Kc - 4c - Tc.  'Benno26' checked and 'hahila' bet $135,000.  'Benno26' re-raised and 'hahila' did not waste any time before pushing all-in. 'Benno26' called revealing Ac - 2d and needed an ace or club to avoid defeat. 'hahila's top pair held up and 'Benno26' left the tourney table in second winning $130,815.

All players eligible to play in the Masters Event on November 22nd will be notified in due course.

, and yes, there were a few howling typos. However I cepkid up the second edition, and these have largely been corrected. Second, the Ken Warren books belonged to an earlier era of hold'em education and not a very good one. Beginners like the Warren books because they seem easy to understand, but what they don't realize is the tremendous amount of misinformation they're being given. Mason Malmuth, in his review of Ken Warren Teaches Hold'em, puts it this way: Even though this is a big book that covers many topics, much of it is quite confused once you get past the filler material. In summary, for the new player, I'd recommend this book as number one, the Lee Jones book as number two. Once you get beyond beginner stage, try the Ed Miller book absolute dynamite. An advantage to start with the Pocket Idiot's Guide to Hold'em is that many of the key concepts are the same as those further refined in the Miller book.
