PokerStars WCOOP 2008 – Event #20 Results

Serena DaSilva - 19 Sep 2008

On Sunday September 14, 2008, Poker Stars held a $3,000,000 guaranteed NLHE tournament with a $1,000 buy-in. 3,467 players bought into the tournament, driving up the prize pool to nearly 3 and a half million dollars. After twelve hours, twenty-two levels and all but 43 eliminations the tournament ended play for the day.

Several Poker Stars pros made it to that second day including Bertrand Grospellier, fresh off his runner-up finish in the 19th event, the $25k Heads-Up Tournament, and Costa Rican superstar Humberto Brenes. Both men would make it into the top twenty, an impressive showing for Team Poker Stars.

However, as the final table got underway Mary 717, winner of the 7th event earlier in the series, had a solid chip stack. She was second in chips behind QuasiFiction and the only other player with seven figures in her pile. Unfortunately, Mary 717 didn’t last past fifth position. She hit the rail soon after the remaining players agreed to a five-way chop. Mary 717 received an impressive $288,155 for her efforts in this event, about four times her take in the PLO Event she won on September 8, 2008.

In the end, QuasiFiction faced NYC P.I.M.P in the heads-up match-up. Despite the fact that Quasi would earn more cash money than the P.I.M.P, NYC wanted the bling-bling and fought hard to rake in that last pot, which he did. NYC P.I.M.P won the day, the title and $257,953 in the biggest event of the weekend.

These are the final standings:

1) NYC P.I.M.P - $257,953
2) QuasiFiction - $340,000
3) CamoJr - $230,388
4) C.K. - $226,965
5) Mary 717 - $288,155
6) JSchnett - $107,477
7) henri72 - $72,807
8) VuaXi`Tô' - $45,071
9) Sumar07 - $31,203
