PokerStars WCOOP 2008 – Event #9 Results

Serena DaSilva - 12 Sep 2008

PokerStars held a very short-handed NLHE tournament on September 9, 2008. Despite the fact that it was a Tuesday night, 3290 players entered the event. Not everyone played in the tourney, however. Reports say that Isabelle “No Mercy” Mercier never made it to the tables. Despite that fact, the lovely Canadian poker pro finished in 1802nd place.

Alex Kravchenko, the first Russian to win a WSOP bracelet, a feat he accomplished in 2007 in the $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo Split 8 or Better tournament, was the highest finisher amongst the PokerStars pros. The 37 year old rounder finished in 26th position.

By the time the final table was set, it was clear who ruled the roost. Three were Scandinavians. The lone American at the table, 3232, was dispatched in fourth place. Then, ErikS of Norway hit the rails, leaving his countryman jonasof87 to fight it out for the title against Sweden’s emiwarg. When the last pot was settled, the final table had taken more than two and a half hours to complete.

jonasof87 held a K,J on the final hand against the pocket nines of emiwarg. Unfortunately for emiwarg, the Norwegian player hit Broadway (a straight with the five top cards: A,K,Q,J,10) on the turn and it was vi snakkes. The tournament was over.

These are the final results:

1) jonasof87 - $95,410.00
2) emiwarg - $55,930.00
3) EirikS - $36,190.00
4) 3232 - $26,320.00
