8,589 entrants took to the virtual felt on July 20, 2008 for the Poker Stars Sunday Million. The number was down significantly from last weekend when Poker Stars doubled the guarantee to two million. However, the total number of entries was still larger than normal. They generated a whopping prize pool of $1,717,800 with about $210,000 going to the first-place finisher.

my_emolument, who finished 14th in this event back on January 20th, put in his best finish to date, taking sixth position and $42,945 while rubenrtv, a winner of the Sunday Warmup on May 18, 2008, added more than $77,000 to his six-figure online tournament earnings to date.

The final two players were Shantaram and SAM66. Shantaram has cashed in several of PokerStars’ Sunday events, earning nearly $200,000 thus far. However, his experience proved to be no match for SAM66’s determination. In the end, SAM66 emerged victorious from the heads-up match-up and claimed the top spot, the title and the $209,572 first prize.
