Serena DaSilva - 21 Sep 2008

Shaun Deeb is one of the most prolific online poker tournament players in the world today. The successful poker pro who, as far as we know is no relation to live action superstar Freddy Deeb, also goes by the name tedfishfry and has earned more than $700,000 so far in his career. On Wednesday September 17, 2008, he was one of 748 players who took part in the $320 buy-in PLO rebuy tournament that was part of the Poker Stars 2008 WCOOP. These players had 1,254 rebuys and 560 add-ons, driving the prize pool up to $768,800.

Finishing deep in the tournament were Dario Minieri (44th place) and Bertrand “ElKY” Grospellier (12th place). These PokerStars pros were among the many notable players in the tournament. Joining shaundeeb at the final table were Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy and  Jamie “TheNew” Robbins. JohnnyBax, a former Wall Street broker turned poker player who has a WSOP bracelet and nearly $1,000,000 in online poker earnings alone, was the first elimination from the final table. The resident of Syosset, New York earned $10,837 for his efforts.

However, Robbins and Deeb made it all the way to heads-up play. Robbins, who finished in 27th place during the 13th event of the 2008 WCOOP, wasn’t able to seal the deal. He took the runner-up position in this event, claiming more than $103k. Deeb, for his part, received $144,113 and a World Championship of Online Poker bracelet, the first in his career so far.
