On Sunday April 6, 2008 7,680 people paid to play in the PokerStars Sunday Million. These entrants drove the prize pool up to a tasty $1,536,000. As the final table got underway, Vaga_Lion declared himself king of the jungle with 13 million chips. On the very first hand, he eliminated jkcva and picked up a ton of chips from V00D00CHILE.
Rather than sitting back, content to count the chips and let his prey devour each other, Vaga_Lion pounced again. 20 minutes later, he cleaned Fjusse’s clock, sending him to the rail in eighth place.
With play down to five, Vaga_Lion unleashed his wrath against billusnail and again came out on top. Unfortunately for Vaga, V00D00CHILE emerged as a solid contender for the title, knocking out johne147 in sixth and exceed_EXE in fourth. Combining the chip infusion from these eliminations and some solid play-making in between, V00D00CHILE was fixing to use his magic against the rest of the field as three-handed play got underway.
However, V00D00CHILE came out on the losing end of a massive pot, giving Vaga_Lion the advantage once again. When V00D00CHILE ko’d princessl111 in third position, he proposed a by the chips chop. Lion wasn’t hearing it and got V00D00 to agree to an even split with $30,000 left to play for.
In the end, Lion’s decision paid off, as he dispatched V00D00CHILE with an As,8h on the final hand and laid claim to more than $177,000.
Here are the final results:
1) Vaga_Lion - $177,816
