
ECOOP II(credit: Titan Poker)
The European Championships of Online Poker (ECOOP) II was held from Friday May 23rd – Sunday June 1, 2004 with the fifty top players on the ECOOP II leaderboard receiving a special opportunity for a share of the $50,000 pie in a freeroll held on Wednesday June 4, 2008. A total of $3.6 million was given away by the iPoker network, the home of sites such as Titan, Betfred and Victor Chandler Poker, during this series.
Now that the second installment of this highly-successful series is in the record books, we can tell you who won what at the ECOOP II.
Event #1 of the ECOOP was a NL Hold’em tournament with a $200 + 15 buy-in. Held on Friday May 23, 2008, a total of $258,200 was paid out to the top 150 finishers. The lion’s share of that prize pool went to fuddebuf. fuddebuf claimed $54,222 for the win.
On Saturday May 24, 2008, the ECOOP III held a Pot Limit Omaha hi-lo competition. The $100,000 guarantee event saw a total of $108,200 awarded. 80 players made bank in the $109 buy-in tourney including goodiepig, the eventual champ. goodiepig sunk his teeth into a $24,886 prize pie after defeating jonas79 in heads-up play.
Sunday May 25th saw the biggest field and biggest prize pool of the ECOOP II except for the Main Event of course. A total of $516,300 was split amongst the top 200 players in this $300 + 20 buy-in No Limit Hold’em competition. In the end, SNakeB1te1 charmed his way to the championship, earning the first six figure payday of the series. SNakeB1te1’s total take was $103,260.
doyouknowwhoiam showed up the competition on May 26th at the $150,000 Guaranteed Pot Limit Omaha tournament. With $165,000 up for grabs, he earned the bulk of that by defeating valdemaria heads-up. doyouknowwhoiam claimed the most of the 100 players who earned cash in the event with the $36,300 award.
505 players paid their $750 + 50 to play in the $300,000 NLHE tournament on Day 5 of the ECOOP II. The event, which was held on Tuesday May 27, 2008, generated a tasty total prize pool of $378,750. adametess defeated HeatOftheNight in the competition and won $87,112.50 for his efforts.
The 28th of May, 2008 saw nearly 1100 entrants in the $200,000 Guaranteed NLHE tournament at the European Championships of Online Poker II. The total prize pool of $217,000 was shared amongst the top 150 players with Heins77 garnering the biggest share of that. In the end, Heins77 received $45,570 and the title.
watashiwaonder outlasted 507 other players in the $100,000 Guaranteed NLHE tournament on May 29, 2008. The final table includes players with interesting online handles such as MooshMagent (8th place), Giggi61 (6th place), ElLuckbox (3rd place) and klorinho1 (2nd place). watashiwaonder won more than $23,300 in the event, which had a total prize pool of $101,600.
1,547 paid to play in the $109 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Rebuy on the 30th of May. $300,000 was split amongst the top 200 finishers with more than $90,000 going to the top two finishers alone. intepawrora received $31,200 after succumbing in heads-up competition to the champ, ukkio. ukkio took down an even $60,000 in the tourney, which was the most heavily attended of the ECOOP II tournaments to that point.
BuggerMyLuck may need to consider a name change after Saturday May 31, 2008. He took the lion’s share of the $150,000 prize pool earned in the $250 + 18 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha event at the ECOOP II. 80 players got a piece of the pie with BuggerMyLuck earning more than a 1/5th of the total amount awarded. BuggerMyLuck claimed $34,500 after defeating size89 heads-up.
The ECOOP II Main Event was held on Sunday June 1, 2008. Only 1,277 players took to the felt in the $1,000 + $60 NLHE event. The total prize pool of $1,500,000, the richest of the series by far, was split amongst the top 150 finishers. The final three players each earned six figures for their efforts. ThorstenS77 took $120,000 as the third place finisher. maros121 received $165,000 for his second place finish, and Jeanss89 pocketed $315k as the ECOOP II Main Event champion.
On June 4, 2008 the top 100 players on the ECOOP II leaderboard (players earned their leaderboard standings according to their finishes in all of the events) met one last time. Each vied for a share of the $50,000 that was up for grabs in this special freeroll. 30 players earned at least 375 in this tournament. The top ten received at least four figures. In the end, badbastard and marsu15 battled it out for the $13,500 first place prize. As the last pot was raked in, marsu15 stood victorious, effectively ending a very successful ECOOP II.
