The World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) are in full swing over at PokerStars. Event #7 was a $100,000 guaranteed Limit Hold’em event. With a $215 buy-in and over 2059 entrants – about 200 more than last year’s event – the prize pool shot up to a whopping $411,800.

Event #8 was a $530 Pot-Limit Omaha-8 tourney. Omaha-8 is another term for Omaha hi/lo. It’s a mixed game in which both the high and low hand wins. The low hand must be comprised of all cards eight or lower. With three from the board, there isn’t always a qualifying low hand. To win the game, you want to maximize your scoopable hands. A scoop occurs when you win both the high and the low hand all by yourself. For example, the wheel could scoop a pot for you.
Tom McEvoy and Katja Thater, who had an amazing WSOP this summer, played in this event as did Luca Pagano, Kevin Saul, Jon “PearlJammer” Turner and ch0ppy, another fella from the internet set. ch0ppy made it further than the rest of the pros with his eighth place finish. rkruok, who has made it deep in just about every big weekend event on the internet, did well here, earning almost $50,000 for his third-place finish.
These are the final table facts, folks:

The first week of the PokerStars’ WCOOP was complete with Event #9. That tournament was a $215 + rebuys NLHE extravaganza featuring 2,188 entrants. The guarantee was set at $1,000,000. With all the entries and rebuys, however, the total payouts winded up somewhere around $1.32 million.
Former WSOP Main Event champs Joe Hachem (2005) and Greg “FossilMan” Raymer (2004), who recently won his first WCOOP event earlier this year, sat down to play along with Luca Pagano and internet titans ElkY, THAY3R, t soprano and SCTrojans.
Pagano and Trojans went deep in the event, making it down to the last two tables. Chris “LUHMAN” Martin sat down at the final table with a two-to-one chip lead over his nearest competitor. However, he was bested at the end by ruthan in heads-up play.
