The Ultimate AVKID
8,370 players took part in the Poker Stars Sunday Million tournament on the last weekend of July in 2008. 1,260 of these players earned some money in the event. With a total prize pool of $1,674,000, there was quite a bit to go around. More than $200,000 was expected for the top finisher, barring a deal. However, the final four players, most of whom had never been in this position before, decided to split the remaining money.
At that point the payouts looked like this:
- avkid86 - $108,101
- Gambooooool - $113,016
- Strahhh25 - $118,193
- PokerBrat13 - $138,077
As usual, the deal left the players with the standard $30k to play for. Almost immediately after the deal was struck, Gambooooool hit the rail. PokerBrat13 may have secured first-place cash, but he left the competition in third place after back to back losses against avkid86. This left avkid86 with the lead over Strahhh25 as heads-up play began. He emerged victorious, adding the extra $30,000 to his take.
Here are the final results:
1) avkid86 - $138,101
2) strahhh25 - $118,193
3) pokerbrat13 - $138,078
4) Gambooooool - $113,017
5) tonijeromi - $58,590
6) dapoopta - $41,850
7) Jimboski30 - $29,295
8) gio_piso - $19,251
9) DonC33 – 11,718
