Serena DaSilva - 20 Sep 2008

Deuce to Seven Triple Draw, or Kansas City Lowball, as the game is also called, is not the most popular game online. That’s why it was hardly a surprise when the 24th event in the 2008 Poker Stars World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) didn’t quite meet its guarantee. Only 308 players put up the $530 buy-in to play in the event. Event sponsor PokerStars had to pay out a bit to ensure that the $200k was met.

The site’s pros came out in full force to represent for the “Team”, several of them even made the money such as Bill Chen, Gavin Griffin, Daniel Negreanu and Lee Nelson. Mills23, the fifth place finisher in the 4th event in this series, also a Deuce to Seven Triple Draw tourney, nearly made the final table again. However, he finished in the eighth slot after Mark “newhizzle” Newhouse busted him with a 9,8,5,4,3. newhizzle, who took down the WPT Borgata Open in 2006, survived to three-handed play and was busted by luvgamble.

At that point, another World Poker Tour champ, Mike “SirWatts” Watson, the Bellagio Cup IV winner, remained. He was at a more than seven to one disadvantage against luvgamble and tried his best. However, it was not to be. In the end, luvgamble was the victor. He received $42k and the WCOOP bracelet.

Here are the final results:

1) luvgamble — $42,000
