PokerStars WCOOP 2008 – Event #29 Results

Serena DaSilva - 24 Sep 2008

852 players re-bought and added-on to generate a total prize pool of $1,265,000 in the 29th event at the Poker Stars WCOOP on Friday September 29, 2008. 132 places would earn some bank. Two members of Team PokerStars were among that number. Unsurprisingly one of these was Bertrand “ElKY” Grospellier. The former Starcraft player has become a fixture in these WCOOP events, making money in the 19th, 20th, 23rd, 25th and 27th. This time his fifteenth place finish netted the poker pro a cool $10,714.

Finishing two ahead of Grospellier in this short-handed NLHE tournament was the victor of Event #27, Andrew “TheActionKid” Glogowski. He was among three Floridians at the same table. Another, Thayer “THAY3R” Rasmussen became the final table bubble boy, taking the seventh slot and nearly $23,000.

The final table’s first elimination was a well-known online pro named Adam Levy, aka Roothlus. Roothlus, a graduate of the University of Central Florida, has more than $566,000 in online tournament earnings to date. His sixth place termination from this event added more than $37,800 to that take. The third place finisher was Greg “DuckU” Hobson. DuckU has garnered at least $1.3 million online. He’s an online legend, having played multiple final tables in major MTTs at the SAME TIME on more than one occasion.

In the end, PiKappRaider hoisted the WCOOP bracelet high above his head as he raked in the last pot. He had a 2 to 1 chip lead against AceOfSpade11 as heads-up play began and never looked back.

Here are the final standings:

1) PiKappRaider — $211,133
2) AceOfSpade11 — $157,562
3) DuckU — $119,747
4) isuckoutonu — $81,932
5) grunter321 — $56,722
6) Roothlus — $37,815
