6,745 players took to the virtual felt at PokerStars for the Sunday Million on May 25, 2008. This number was down significantly from last week when more than 7110 people played in the event. However, the total prize pool was still well over the guarantee, topping out at $1,349,000.
As the final table got underway, rythman and tapatapa battled for the chip lead. Each had well over 12,000,000 of the big ones with tapatapa holding a bit of an advantage. When play got down to three, both of these players remained. tapatapa had extended his lead and agreed to a by-the-chips chop that netted him no less than $139,725. rythman was guaranteed $107,253 while KtheKing came in under six figures with $90,758. As required by PokerStars’ rules, there was $30k left to play for.
KtheKing wouldn’t see any of that extra cash. Shortly after the deal was struck, rythman dispatched him to the rail with an A,10 in the hole. rythman went on to defeat tapatapa to claim the title and the additional $30,000. However, tapatapa still walked away from the table with the most cash.
These are the results:
1) rythman — $137,254
2) tapatapa — $139,726
3) KtheKing — $90,758
4) Hasuwisp — $56,658
