Profiling Chino Rheem

Deanna Goodson - 5 Nov 2008

David “Chino” Rheem is just 28 years old, but this Los Angeles resident and Florida native has already had a big impact on the poker world. Chino has five WSOP poker cashes including a second place finish in the $1,000 NLHE Tournament in 2006. This year, Rheem, whose lifetime tournament earnings exceed $700,000 so far in his career, took fifth place in the $5,000 Mixed Hold’em Event at the 2008 World Series.

An aggressive poker player, Rheem is a 10/1 favorite to take the title in ’08. He has an impressive group of pros in his corner including the last lady left in the field, Tiffany Michelle. Michelle, who now plays under Ultimate Bet’s banner, said of Rheem, “I am definitely rooting for Chino to win. Chino obviously has one of the longest histories and resumes in poker. He's worked really hard. He's played really well. It would be really neat to see one of our own have that payoff. That would be great.”

Rheem currently has $10.2 million chips and is one of the shorter stacks at the table, but he isn’t too worried. He’s got the skillz to turn this thing around and admits that he’s “just going to take it as it goes” and “handle it as maturely as possible.”
