Bodog CEO Ready to Step Down

Serena DaSilva - 23 Apr 2008

Calvin Ayre is a self-made billionaire. The Canadian-born playboy has been, in his own words, “a brand ambassador for Bodog” and a true embodiment of the company’s young, hip and posh spirit. He’s created a multi-billion dollar online gaming and entertainment empire in recent years. However, he’s decided that it’s time to ‘pack it in’ and focus on a “more private and meaningful period of giving back and working to support the Calvin Ayre Foundation.”

Alwyn Morris and Morris Mohawk Gaming Group took over Bodog’s operations in North America in 2007. In 2006, Bodog hired “a mostly European team to run their now solely non US facing operations” so the Bodog experience should remain the same. Ayre makes it clear that he’s looking for a more private life.

The Calvin Ayre Foundation was created in 2006 and is active in Costa Rica, Antigua and Russia. Check out this video about the foundation's work, courtesy of YouTube:
