Rene Angelil Teaches Poker to His Son

Serena DaSilva - 1 Mar 2009

Rene Angelil has the poker bug. He readily admits it. The 67 year old recording mogul and husband to Canadian songbird Celine Dion is passing along his love of the game to the couple’s 8 year old son, Rene-Charles.

Angelil hopes that the instruction will help his son become a ‘responsible poker player.’ In an interview with Le Journal de Montreal, he said, “Our son has superior intelligence, and it's good that he's learning in a good way."

Prior to marrying Celine, Angelil said that was “able to gamble because I would borrow money from the bank, since my cousin was the bank manager. Then my cousin left his job and I went bankrupt in 1982."

Angelil wants his son to see poker in a different light than he does.
