So, is poker coming or going these days? There seem to be more ups and downs in the world of poker than ever before, but one thing seems certain; the game isn’t going anywhere.
Now by “not going anywhere” I don’t mean “poker isn’t progressing” -- far from it. There are new poker series, both live and online, popping up all over the world, and new tourney structures that are just plain exciting (check out FullTiltPoker’s Matrix games). What I mean is that, despite the efforts of more than a few, poker as a game isn’t going to go poof anytime soon.
Your particular situation will vary, of course, when it come to what is available and what is legal, but the good news for everyone is that for every place where poker is hard (or impossible) to come by there are a dozen where it is easy- peasy.
“Oh, sure,” you say, “that’s nice for THEM, but how is that good news for me sweating it out in Nopokersylvania?”
Good question, Count! The fact is that the more poker is popular and accepted in other parts of the world, the more likely the good people of Nopokerslyvania (I liked it so much I used it twice) will come around, at least in terms of the online world.
For those in a totally poker-less society, there are still some outs. Crossing the border to play in countries where finding a game is easy in order to play the occasional EPT event can bring on big rewards, for example. Win one of those -- or just cash deep enough -- and you’ll be traveling so much playing all the major events you won’t have time to gnash your teeth about the lack of short-handed triple draw razz games at home.
