Imper1um and ElkY Stage Complex Prop Bet for 2009 WSOP

Deanna Goodson - 4 Mar 2009

Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi once said that “having a healthy lifestyle can only improve your poker game as it has knock on effects for your mind and overall well-being.” Well, the poker pro is ready to put his money where his mouth is. He and pal Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier have agreed to a complicated prop bet in which each will put up $10,000 over a series of physical fitness challenges.

According to Mizzi’s blog, they are as follows:

  • Day 1
Upper Body, Bench Press, Bicep Curl, Shoulder Press, Triceps Pull Down, Chin-ups
  • Day 2
Lower Body, Angled Leg Press, Leg Extension,  Squats
  • Day 3
Tennis: best of 3 sets match
  • Day 4
Jump rope: maximum number of consecutive jumps without missing, Arm Wrestle (best of 3)
  • Day 5
Kick Boxing (9 rounds in the ring)
  • Day 6
Swimming (who can stay in the centre of the pool the longest without touching walls or without putting their feet on the ground)
  • Day 7
Rowing (who can row the furthest on the rowing machine in 15 minutes)

If one man wins more than 80% of the tasks, he gets an additional $50,000 bonus and the overall winner, in addition to the cash and bragging rights, receives a 15% stake up to $300,000 in tournament buy-ins, the majority of which will be used for the WSOP.

Neither gent can take any ‘performance-enhancing drugs’ and the other player can request a drug test if he gets suspicious. All weight lifting activities are on the basis of maximum weight for three repetitions and…each individual gets three tries to achieve the maximum weight.
