Kara Scott

Brian Thomas - 22 Nov 2008

As one of the few women to run deep in the 2008 World Series of Poker, Kara Scott has caught some of the global poker spotlight.

In 2008 Kara Scott placed 104th at the World Series of Poker main event, but it wasn’t her first experience with a World Series gaming event. She was the host for two seasons of the World Series of Backgammon, which lead to a run as host for Poker Night Live. Her journalistic experience and exposure to poker lead her to write for a poker publication, FLUSH, as well as Poker Player Magazine. All of this, of course, lead to her attempt at glory in the main event of the 2008 WSOP.

While she has a small poker resume, it is nevertheless impressive. Placing 104th may not seem that great, but when there were thousands in the field and she earned four times her buy in, it puts it in perspective. In addition to her run at the WSOP she also placed 52nd in a € 4,000 No Limit Hold'em at the 2008 EPT Budapest.

Prior to that she cinched her first major victory with a first place and $50k finish at the 2008 Partypoker Sports Stars Challenge.

Hailing from Canada, Kara trained in Muy Thai fighting, developing a passion for martial arts, which is also reflected in her various TV hosting duties. Now living in the UK, Kara continues to produce and host TV programming while pursuing her poker goals.
