Anthrax Guitarist Gets Poker Bug

Serena DaSilva - 18 Mar 2008

Scott Ian, best known as a guitarist for thrash-metal band Anthrax, has been bitten by the poker bug. Ian, who’s engaged to Meatloaf’s daughter Pearl Aday, first came to the attention of the pokerati when he won the VH-1 Rock Stars of Charity tournament last year. In that event, he earned a seat to the UltimateBet Aruba classic.

Currently, Ian can be seen on UB.com’s “Best Darn Poker Show.” The 44 year old music icon said he originally ‘had no idea’ what he was doing and claims that his initial success was related to a run of “amazing cards” and “instinct.”

Now we hear that the guitarist has signed on to represent Ultimate Bet online…after a week-long tutoring session with both Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth. He’ll be playing each week at the Sunday $200,000 Guaranteed with a $215 bounty on his head.

In addition, he’ll represent the online poker room at the 2008 Aruba Poker Classic and other land-based tournaments throughout the coming year.

Want to kick Ian out of the $200,000 Weekly Guarantee this Sunday? Head on over to Ultimate Bet now and you can qualify for a fraction of the $200 buy-in!
