You expect to find a movie star in a mansion, don’t you? American Pie alum actress Shannon Elizabeth is now officially in one, having just recently joined online poker room Mansion Poker during her stint at the 2008 Aussie Millions. Which explains away her move when she declined a free pass into the event in order to “pay her own way.”

The Melbroune Crown Casino wanted a little star power to fluff up the event, and so gave Miss Elizabeth a ring to ask her if she would be so kind as to promote the Millions. In return they would happily pay her way into the event. The new reports came back to the effect that Elizabeth would rather pay her own way, thank you, and she turned down the casino.

A few short days later Mansion Poker announces that Shannon Elizabeth is now one of their poker pros.

Now it seems as if the reason Elizabeth turned down the comp was because she had one coming anyway, and she couldn’t very well accept two comps (although she could have tossed a bone our way. We don’t have that much pride, you know.)

Eh, in the grand scheme of things it really doesn’t matter if she paid her way in or got a comp. Even big time poker winners like Hevad Khan, who scored $900,000 for his sixth place finish at the 2007 WSOP, says its smarter to try and qualify even if you have the scratch to pay. So let’s just say “congratulations” to Shannon Elizabeth for having her poker pro career somewhat legitimized by getting on with an online poker room and call it a day.
