Profiling Scott Montgomery

Deanna Goodson - 8 Nov 2008

27 year old Scott Montgomery hails from Perth, Ontario in the Great White North (Canada). 2008 has been a breakthrough year for this poker professional who began playing the game while teaching English in Japan. Earlier this year, Montgomery finished fifth at the World Poker Tour’s LA Poker Classic Championship event, earning nearly $300,000 for his efforts.

During this summer, he finished strong in no less than three events at the World Series of Poker before making the final table. Known for his aggressive style of play, Montgomery currently sits in the middle of the pack in fourth place. He holds $19.3 million chips and is confident in his abilities to bring the WSOP Main Event trophy back home to Full Tilt for a second year in a row. (Note: Jerry Yang signed on with Full Tilt last year after winning the Main Event in '07.)

As he told the folks at his online home, “I'm going to win; I planned on winning from day one.” Well, if past success is a predictor of future success, one thing’s for certain. Montgomery certainly has a better than average shot at the brass ring in 2008.
