Peter Eastgate was just 23 when he won the World Series of Poker Main Event in November 2008. The professional poker player from Odense, Denmark became the youngest player ever to win the event.
Eastgate began playing poker online as soon as he graduated from high school and has never looked back. The young gun qualified online for the WSOP Main Event via Ladbrokes Poker. However, by the time he reached the final table of this event he was no stranger to live action success.
The Danish wunderkind was at the final table of the Irish Poker Open in 2007. He made it all the way to ninth place and received $46,714 for his efforts. He followed that up with a top 30 cash at the EPT Copenhagen event in 2008.
One of the favorites going into the final table of the WSOP Main Event, Eastgate had 18,375,000 and about a 4-1 shot at taking the coveted title. After a tough table which included four hours of heads-up play against fellow Poker Stars pro Ivan Demidov, Eastgate emerged victorious with the $9,245,611 first place purse.
