Darus Suharto cashed in the 2006 Main Event, finishing in 448th place and earning $26,389. The hockey fan, who also enjoys baseball and basketball, currently makes his home in Toronto.
Suharto claims that the money wouldn’t change him that much; however, he does say that he would move to a nicer apartment in Vancouver. He’d save the rest in the bank and continue to crunch numbers for a living. However, he isn’t ruling anything out if he does win $9 million in November. He’s optimistically cautious about his future.
Currently sixth in chips, Darus still hopes to take the title. Of course, if he doesn’t, he’s still happy to be at the table.
Suharto is nothing if not grateful for the opportunity to play the game he loves. He considers himself a recreational player and sees poker as his number one hobby. He appreciates the game for what it is, but does not consider himself a gambler. He also would like to inspire others.
