Betfair Poker sponsors a “New Breed” of player. They’re not just new school; they’re completely different from anything the world has seen before. The bluff is their way of life. They appear quiet and unassuming, but underneath the cool as ice exterior is a razor-sharp intellect, fox-like cunning and a side of danger thrown in for good measure.
Four pros currently lead Betfair’s New Breed. They are fearless, fearsome and fierce:
Annette Obrestad – online prodigy turned World Series of Poker Europe Main Event champion, Obrestad, who hails from Norway, accomplished more by the time she was just 18 than most poker players do in a lifetime.
Sorel Mizzi – 21 years old, Mizzi, known to most online rounders as Imper1um, has earned more than half a million online at PokerStars in no small part due to his dominance of the site’s High Stakes Heads-Up Showdown. Mizzi, a Canadian, won it four times in the first six instances of the game back in 2007.
John Tabatabai – after coming in second to Annette Obrestad at the 2007 WSOPE Main Event, Tabatabai, who grew up in Cardiff (Wales), he went on to win the All Africa Poker Main Event in March 2008.
Peter Jepsen – Winner of the EPT Warsaw Event in 2007, Jepsen, 26, used to be in the Danish army. The third place finisher in the 2006 Caribbean Poker Classic, he also scooped a $499,000 pot online against one Tom “durrr” Dwan.
