Sahamies Loves High Stakes Action

Serena DaSilva - 3 Apr 2008

Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies loves high stakes action. The young Finn is known for his roller-coaster like bankroll swings. One minute he’s up over $200k. The next he’s down double that. Ziig also has a love-hate relationship with the railbirds who watch his every move (mostly hate). It’s not unusual to see him type in gems such as “hope u die” and “u r f horrible” in his chat window.

Of course, his penchant for maniacal play is well-known among the internet set.

Ziig is an online poker player’s wet dream or their worst nightmare – depending upon whether you’re watching him or facing him.

Earlier this week, Ziigmund was playing his favorite game – Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) at stakes of $300/$600 against Brian “tsarrast” Rast and Di “Urindanger” Dang. Unfortunately, he came out the short end of this heavy-handed stick. Rast took him down for over $400,000 in less than two hours.

The biggest of these pots yielded over $200,000.

According to Full Tilt Poker, tsarrast was in seat 1, posted the small blind. Ziigmund posted the big blind. Tsarrast raised it up to $1,800. Ziigmund re-raised to $6,200. tsarrast called the remaining $4,400.  The flop came down 4, 6, 7. Ziigmund bet out $12,400. tsarrast raised all-in. Ziigmund called an additional $90,018 and went all-in. tsarrast showed a 5,7. Ziigmund flipped over J, J. tsarrast received more than $32,000 back. The turn was 10  and the river was an 8 .

tsarrast took it down with a an 8-high straight, winning $217,235.50.
