Players can contribute to a great cause and play some serious poker with celebrities and poker icons from across the globe. The event will also be televised in part by ESPN on August 11 from 8 – 10 pm ET.

The tournament has a buy-in of $5,000 which should generate a six-figure payday for the eventual winner. Registration is open to anyone 21 years or older.

Created by Oscar nominee/activist Don Cheadle and Annie Duke, the Ante Up for Africa tournament begins at 2pm on July 2, 2009. So far, AUFA has raised $2,000,000 plus for the Darfur region in the Sudan.

As Cheadle says, “I am very pleased that we have raised almost 2 million to date and appreciative of everyone who has participated and donated to help us on our mission of bringing the plight of the refugees of Darfur to the forefront of people's minds.”
