BoylePoker Special Tournament tonight 19th November 2009

TourneyBlog Staff - 19 Nov 2009

Boylepoker is tonight hosting a special $1 World Cup Bad Beat Freezeout in honour of the heroic display by the Irish national football team in their World Cup playoff against former world champions France last night in Paris.

Ireland won the match in 90 minutes but lost the two-leg playoff in extra time as a result of a ‘hand of Frog’ goal by French superstar Thierry Henry. This ultimate bad beat extinguished Ireland’s hope of making World Cup 2010 in South Africa next summer.

To cheer fans up, Boylepoker will be adding $2,500 to the prize pool of the 9 p.m. (GMT) tournament, which also has three $100 bounties: HenryIsACheat, HenryIsMerde, HenryOfGod.

The structure of the tournament will be a 2,000 chip starting stack with eight minute blinds.

Additionally if a French player wins the tournament Boylepoker will replay the tournament tomorrow evening (Friday, Nov. 20) at the same time adding another $2,500 for players..

Paul Spillane, Head of Poker at Boylepoker.com told Tourneyblog this afternoon

“A whole nation has been sickened by the events of last night, but the bad beat Henry put on the country does not diminish the heroic endeavours of the Irish team in Paris. To celebrate this and to cheer fans up, we decided to give them something to look forward to by adding $2,500 to the prize pool in tonight’s $1 World Cup Bad Beat Freezeout.
