Dennis Phillips Sells Self for MS

Deanna Goodson - 20 Oct 2008

Dennis Phillip still holds the chip lead at the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event. He will (at least) until they announce the words “shuffle up and deal” on November 10th. Obviously Phillips hopes he will hold the lead until the very last pot is dealt (and he very will might).

The 53 year old account manager for Broadway Trucks in St. Louis, MO, has shown over the past few months that he has a very big heart. Phillips was among the Main Event participants who registered for the “Put a Bad Beat on Cancer” drive organized by Phil Gordon at the WSOP this summer. When PokerStars sponsored Phillips, he asked them to match his sponsorship of the cause, which they promptly did.

Now, he is engaging in an eBay auction which began on October 16. Ending on the 26th, causes, businesses, websites and so forth can pay $13,100 (that was the current bid when we checked it on October 20th) to put their logo on his World Series of Poker jersey. The ultimate winner will be the National Multiple Sclerosis Society who will get the cash value of the bid.
