Team Poker has arrived at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas -- will it catch on with online poker rooms?
The name of the game is Dream Team Poker, and it debuts in early November at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Poker Lounge. You may not be in Las
Vegas on November 7th, or have a team to play, so why should you care?
Because this could be one of the next big things to hit your favorite online poker room.
Here is how it works. Each team is made up of three players -- for this particular tournament the buy in is $3k per team, but it could just as easily be $3 online. Each player gets a score based on when they are eliminated. This score is totaled up with the other members of the team to determine the ranking for a Team Payout.
In addition the individual members of a team may score an Individual Payout -- rewarding those team members who carry the weight of early -outs.
All sorts of strategies come to mind, such as designating one player to go crazy from the outset trying to accumulate massive chips while the others play tight, or one player sacrificing themselves in an attempt to take out a threat.
