ElkY Wins Final Tournament of Champions seat

TourneyBlog Staff - 13 Jun 2010

Nine people battled it out for the remaining WSOP Tournament of Champions seat, and the winner was Bertrand Grospellier.

Bertrand “ElkY “ Grospellier topped the nine handed table that included Mike Mizrachi, Tom Dwan, Andy Bloch, Gus Hansen, Sorel Mizzi, Liv Boeree, Paul Wasicka and Don Cheadle.

Don Cheadle? Yes, the Iron Man II star was one of the nine, an exemption used by the WSOP Academy. The exemption was needed because otherwise a player is not eligible to play for the TOC seats unless they have won a WSOP event in the past.

As the winner ElkY gets entry into the million dollar free-roll tournament, but he almost gave it up to  Mike “The Grinder” Mizrachi, fresh off his “players choice” $50k multi-game WSOP victory earlier this WSOP.

ElkY is a long time crowd favorite and one of the most dangerous poker players in the world, making a fantastic addition to this year’s Tournament of Champions.
