First stop on the Betfred Ladies Poker Tour attracts 85 players to the Alea Casino, Leeds with victory going to a 25-year-old from Kent
Twenty-five-year-old Emily Curzon won the first leg of the Betfred Ladies Poker Tour at the weekend, topping a field of 85 players in the £100 buy in tournament at the Alea Casino, Leeds, England.
Betfred added £1,500 to the prize pool to bring the total to £10,000.
Curzon got heads up with Angela Evis and the final hand saw her go all in after a raise from her opponent. Evis called and showed 9-9 while Curzon turned up Jh-8h. The flop brought 10-5-3 and two hearts to give Curzon a flush draw but Evis was still ahead.
That all changed on the turn, which came a jack and Evis was now drawing to just the two remaining nines in the deck. The river was an innocent six and Curzon was crowned champion and as well as the £3,000 top prize she receives a seat in the Grand Final in November where she will be playing for a £20,000 sponsorship package.
