Barry Greenstein Building Gymnasium with Children, Incorporated

Children, Incorporated recently announced the opening of the Barry Greenstein Gymnasium on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in Todd County, South Dakota. The facility, which is part of the Rosebud Dormitory student residence, a structure that houses and educates some 140 Lakota Sioux children, has been designed to improve the health of the children as well as work to prevent rising teen suicide rates among the Rosebud Sioux nation.

Children, Inc oversaw the construction of the gym, which was funded by WSOP bracelet winner Barry Greenstein, who is more than aptly nicknamed “The Robin Hood of Poker.” The new gym will give the children, who were often required to remain indoors during the harsh summer and winter weather the region is known for, the opportunity for physical activity and the ability to reduce sedentary habits and take more of a role in their community.

Marian Cummins, Children, Incorporated’s CEO said of the project, “This gymnasium which proudly displays a sign over the entrance that reads Barry Greenstein Building, brings new hope to this community. The children and their families are so grateful.”

The gymnasium opened on October 16, 2008.
