Hellmuth Leading Brunson WPT Event

Brian Thomas - 15 Dec 2008

The Poker Brat has a lot to crow about as the chip leader ending Day One of the 2008 World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic.

Phil Hellmuth claims to be the best no limit Texas Hold’em tournament player on the planet, and he does have eleven good reasons to think so (his unbroken world record of World Series of Poker bracelets), and it seems he is on target to put yet another point on his crown; the Doyle Brunson

WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic event currently running at the Bellagio.

With over 188k in chips Hellmuth is at the head of the pack at the end of day one, and he has a lot of stiff competition dogging his heels. Clonie Gowan is in third with nearly 170k, Kid Pham is right behind her, Nenad Medic is sitting at 7th position, and fellow WSOP main event champ Greg Raymer is not far behind in 9th position.

Even Hellmuth buddy Mike “the Mouth” Matusow isn’t out of striking distance at 14th place.
