Montel Williams is taking his love of poker to a new level, leveraging his other skills as TV host to create a new poker TV show called the International Team Poker League.
It remains to be seen if the International Team Poker League is going to be International in truth as in name (heck, the World Series of Poker never left the Unites States until 2007, when the WSOP Europe played in London) but at the very least it should be interesting to find out.
The TV show will be only part of the equation with Montel Willimas – former host of the Montel Williams show, an American talk show much in the same vein as Oprah, but not – and his new concept, which will in part run like a talent show.
The idea is to bring poker to the “streets” both online and in real life, with the ITPL (as we assume it will come to be known) hosting satellite tournaments, with the winners being gathered together for a final show down in Las Vegas. Team poker will be the name of the game at that point, and the eventual winners are presumably going to get… something… as a reward.
If you’d like to get on a poker TV show right now, head for Ultimate Bet and sign up to play for a spot in the Best Damn Poker Show – no Montel Williams, but a Phil Hellmuth and an Annie Duke instead.
