Ivey Takes $152,000 Pot off Ziigmund

Phil Ivey didn’t make it to the money at the 2009 NBC Heads-Up Championship. However, he more than made up for his early departure by taking on Finnish poker player Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies on Saturday, March 7, 2009.

In one pot, the Tiger Woods of Poker flopped a set and collected $152,000 due to some ill-timed aggression by his opponent. In order to win that amount at the NBC tournament, Ivey would’ve had to make it to the last round.

No wonder why many pros say ring games are their bread and butter.
