Jamie Gold Signs with Poker Icons

Jamie Gold has signed a deal with the Poker Icons agency.

Former WSOP Main Event champion Jamie Gold (2006) has signed with poker agency Poker Icons. The agency with its offices in London and Macau has agreed to partner with the controversial poker star.

As Jamie says of the match-up, “I’m very excited about joining Poker Icons. Their international presence and expertise in poker makes this relationship fit perfectly. I’m really looking forward to this partnership.”

Gold hasn’t had an easy time since winning the WSOP in 2006. First, he had that controversy with former ‘partner’ Crispin Leyser, causing him to give up half of his WSOP winnings. Then, he played for Team Bodog and was cut before the lawsuit was finished.

In February, Gold signed with Aced.com. He had hoped to ‘make his mark’ there, but recently parted ways with the company after winning the team title at the $500 Dream Team Poker Tournament.

Gold’s first foray into the Poker Icons world is a charity event at the Cannes Film Festival that he will co-host with director/actor/screenwriter Ed Norton. The celebrity poker night, which will be held on May 17, will raise money for the Sunflower Children Foundation and the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation. The winner of the event receives a seat at the 2009 World Series and private instruction from Gold himself.
