At the end of September, a Canadian-born London resident named Niels Rock triumphed at the Virgin Poker Festival. Having won an £120 online event at virginpoker.com, Rock231 emerged victorious in the event held at the Loose Cannon’s Poker Club. Defeating Ollie “olliecrawf” Crawford in heads-up play, Rock earned £8,000 for his first-place finish. Crafword received £5,000 as the runner-up in the £25,000 GTD event.
With the World Series of Poker Europe being in town, the Virgin Poker Festival was able to drawn in some big-name talent to the event such as Mel Judah, Kara Scott, Lucy Rokach and Brian Townsend. All in all, the tourney was considered a success.
