EPT Awards – Who Won What?

Early last week, before the beginning of the European Poker Tour’s Barcelona Event, Poker Stars, the event sponsor, held the first ever EPT Awards. The EPT Awards honored the best performances in the tournament series’ fourth season. Most of the categories were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges which included PokerStars pro and former EPT champion Victoria Coren, poker player/author Lee Jones and the European Poker Tour’s creator John Duthie.

Winners included:

• Best Newcomer – Trond Eidsvig
• Best Performance – Julian Thew (EPT Baden Champion)
• Best Overseas Player –Mike “Timex” McDonald of Canada
• Best Poker Stars Qualifier – Danny “The_D__RY” Ryan
• The Poker Writer’s Award – Julian Thew *
• People’s Choice Award – Mike McDonald **
• Player of the Year Award – Luca Pagano

* The Poker Writer’s Award was voted on by all accredited media and honored the player that poker writers themselves have most enjoyed writing about, watching and interviewing.

** The People’s Choice Award was chosen by an online vote of all the EPT Season 4 players. Mike McDonald received more than 25% of the entire vote.
