Party Poker is now running online Satellites for the 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championships.

Canada is swiftly catching up on the poker tours, with the latest addition being the 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championships, which will run its main event at the Stampede Casino in Calgary, Alberta, May 13-17, 2009.

Party Poker is putting up satellites for you now, though, giving you plenty of time to get read to brave the Canadian cold to win some cold cash in Calgary. The main event buy in has a $5,000 price tag, but of course you can win a seat for much less online. Say, around four dollars.

If you get in on the ground floor of this event, you may even wind up a TV star, as the Open is being filmed for later broadcast on Canadian TV.

Just because it is taking place in Canada doesn’t mean there won’t be stiff competition. Do the names Daniel Negreanu, Evelyn Ng, Brad Booth and Gavin Smith sound familiar to you? All Canadian players.
