PokerStars pro Barry Greenstein came close to winning the World Series of Poker event number 40.
Barry almost saved himself a copy of his book. Barry Greenstein, also known as the Robin Hood of Poker (although perhaps not as much these day) is one of the big characters of the game. Not as big, perhaps, as Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu or Gus Hansen, but certainly no lightweight.
It is his tradition (and a neat one at that) to hand out an autographed copy of his book to any player who knocks him out of a tournament. Barry plays for fun more than money, making so much playing cash games that he regularly donates his winnings to charity (hence the nickname) and passing out these books gratis is one way he keeps the fun going.
He made it deep in event 40, finally busting at the final table in 9th place, and once more having to sign and give away a copy of his book.
