Irish poker player Femi Fakinle wins the PokerStars UKIPT Killarney
The title for the PokerStars United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour Killarney stayed in-country as Irish poker player Femi Fakinle secures the victory in the €1,100 buy-in Main Event. As a PokerStars qualifier, Fakinle got to play for free, a great return considering his win brought him €63,000 and a £5,250 seat into the European Poker Tour’s (EPT) Main Event in London.
Among the 253 players in the game were other PokerStars notables, such as pro Julian Thew, and a few UKIPT winners, such as Gilles Augustus (Coventry) and Andrew Couldridge (Nottingham).
Fellow countryman Aonghus Farrell took second, and after German player Jens Schmukal took third Peter Barrable and Brian Downey rounded out the top five with two more Irish places.
