Sucking out on the Rivers – Annie Duke’s Newest Charity Tournament

TourneyBlog Staff - 22 May 2009

Annie Duke will have a little fun at Joan Rivers’ expense during her next charity poker tournament.

Annie Duke recently lost to Joan Rivers heads-up at the Celebrity Apprentice 2 finale. The poker pro took a lot of abuse from Ms. Rivers for being a poker player. As a result, Annie is trying to turn the tables on Joan by setting up a charity poker tournament for Refugees International, the same charity she raised money for on the Celebrity Apprentice.

Frank Marino, a well-known Joan Rivers impersonator will be hosting the event and no less than 20 other impersonators will take part in the tournament. The “ladies” will have bounties on their heads.

Annie says of the event, “I think that after this poker tournament, the real Joan Rivers will quickly realize that poker players are good-natured people - professional people with respected occupations and families - who really want to change the lives of those less fortunate.”

Whether Annie can change Joan’s mind or not remains to be seen. However, a group of the biggest pros in the world will be making it to Las Vegas for the event, which is named “Sucking Out on the Rivers”, on May 27th at the Hard Rock Poker Lounge.

Buy-in for the tournament is $200 with rebuys available.
