For the past few years, the World Series of Poker Academy (WSOP Academy) has built a solid reputation by providing quality live instruction and fantastic poker clinics. They made a champion out of Sally Ann Boyer (2007 Ladies NLHE WSOP Champion). Until now, however, they’ve kept their operations centered in Las Vegas.
In September, that’s going to change, Annie Duke, Kenny Tran, winner of his first WSOP bracelet this summer, and Alex Outhred, fresh off his 54th place finish at the 2008 WSOP Main Event, will join former FBI man and poker tells expert Joe Navarro for two days of training at the Bicycle Casino, aka The Bike, in Los Angeles, California. They’ll tackle seminars, live hand demos, interactive workshops and more all in the hopes of making attendees better players no matter what level they were starting at.
In addition to the instructional opportunities, players will get the chance to play in freeroll which will reward a player with $5,000 WSOPC seat. As Brandon Rosen of Post Oak Productions, the company that produces these events, says, “The Academy’s tournament is an exciting way for our participants to put into action what they've learned over the day and test their wits at the table against the world’s best like Annie Duke and Kenny Tran.”
The cost of the two-day camp is $1,499. Space is limited to 100 entrants. Discounts are available at nearby hotels to the casino. For more info on hotel reservations, contact the Welcome Center at The Bike at 562-806-4646 ext. 545.
