Vanessa Rousso is a different breed of poker player. She’s working hard to give back to those less fortunate than herself. In 2008, she created a nonprofit organization called the No Limit No Profit Initiative (NLNPI) so, as she says, “I can go to bed at night like doctor and know that I saved lives at work today.”
NLNPI’s mission is to support innovative and ground-breaking research that is also results-driven. The programs they conduct or assist will work to help decrease the impact of poverty globally. The organization is focused on sustainable programs that work to defeat poverty in some of the world’s most vulnerable locations.
Vanessa’s ambitious goal is to target the poker-playing community to help raise money for her charity. She’s getting the word out by playing for NLNPI in events herself. As she says, “In choosing what our mission ought to be, I put a lot of thought into what sort of mission would make sense for the poker community to support.”
