X Prize hosts Poker Fundraiser

TourneyBlog Staff - 17 Apr 2010

The X Prize Foundation tapped poker legends Chris Ferguson and Phil Gordon along with fellow pros to participate in a casino night fundraiser on April 24.

The event will take place at a private mansion in Pacific Palisades where Gordon and Ferguson will be joined by Rafe Furst, Annie Duke, Andy Bloch and Lawrence Bender.

Also expected are entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and celebrities all of whom will play poker while donating to the Foundation.

The prizes offered for the winners of the poker tournament include a choice from prizes like a suborbital flight with Virgin Galactic (a $200,000 value), a 2010 Tesla Roadster (a $109,000 value) and something that is hard to price, the opportunity to be among the first  hundred people to have their genome fully sequenced.

A single ticket will run for $8,500.

The X Prize foundation, founded in 1996, offers the X prize, which is a $10 million award given to the first team to achieve the goal of sequencing 100 human genomes in 10 days for under $10,000 each.

If you can’t spring for a ticket to the event, you can still play Chris Ferguson online at Full Tilt Poker!
