Poker Stars Raises Sunday Guarantee to $1,500,000

Serena DaSilva - 4 Aug 2008

It’s true – Sundays just got more valuable at Poker Stars. The online home of Joe Hachem, Daniel Negreanu, Katja Thater and 2/3 of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event final table has upped the ante on their popular Sunday tournaments.

They’ve increased the guarantee on the Sunday Million, which starts 4.30 pm ET but not the buy-in (it’s still $215 most weekends – with a $530 monthly and a $1050 quarterly). Now, players are vying for one and a half times the original guarantee - $1.5 million.

Yes, the Sunday Million just got bigger. It’s not the Sunday Million and a half.

Not to be outdone, PokerStars has also increased the buy-in for two other tournaments. First is the Sunday Warm-Up. Occurring at 12.45 pm ET on Sundays and considering an opening act to the ‘Sunday Million’, this $215 buy-in used to have a $500,000 guarantee. Now it’s offering a minimum of $750,000. The Super Tuesday, which is played at 19.55 ET and has a whopping buy-in of $1,050, now has a guarantee of $300,000 (an increase from $250,000).
